About Donnington
Donnington is a suburb of Telford, located in the borough of Telford and Wrekin, the largest town in Stropshire, England and one of the fastest growing in the UK.
Named after Thomas Telford, famous civil engineer, Telford was built in the '60s and '70s, and, just like other towns belonging to that era, it was "born" from the merger of other smaller settlements, among the most important also being Dawley, Madeley, Wellington and Oakengates.
Telford is, perhaps, best known today for the Ironbridge Gorge, which is a scenic tourist destination and UNESCO World Heritage Site, for the M54 motorway, completed in '83, which connects the town with the West Midlands conurbation, and for the modern Telford Shopping Centre, which is a huge people drawer in the area.
Donnington is famous for MOD Donnington, which is a military base of the British Army, situated just north of it, once the largest military stores in Europe, and for the fact that it is an oasis of peace and relaxation, being surrounded by fields and countryside.
